Forum support is given by volunteers.

Noone is ignoring you, if someone can help, they might, they're not obligated to do so though.

Quite frankly i usually ignore threads THAT CANT HELP BUT FEEL THEY NEED TO MAKE A POINT WITH CAPS...

If you can't solve a problem, you have 3 options as i see it.

    1. Wait patiently for a response, ensuring you have included "as much" detail as possible regarding your problem.
    2. Employ a professional to look at your problem.
    3. Learn how to fix the problems yourself.

    Or ..

    4. Give up.. (if you don't like the above options)

Wow t31 - well guess the caps worked in riling you up, that wasnt the point, actually was typing from a stupid mobile device where I couldnt do anything but caps with the exception of copy and paste - hence the lowercase wordpress links.. as for your advice,

    1) I have, trust me, these are old and there are many others with similar questions in the forum seem to be getting know response.
    2) Have done so - again, those developers I have worked with are stating it is a wordpress core isssue.
    3) Trust me, I have learned and fixed many things on my own.

    4) - didn't mean to piss folks off, just trying to see if anyone can help out the multitudes with problems that are stated in those 3 posts. That is the reason for the double please.

Lastly, good to know that volunteers are only the ones supporting this. I assumed incorrectly that there were automatic/wordpress folks assisting.

If I could edit these and remove the caps, or the title of the post, I WOULD.

Im certainly not alone whatsoever in support forum posts that go completely ignored and unanswered for months on end. In fact, you can see that not a single one of the 3 above was started by me...

    Thanks for the advice ;-)

Also consider time zones when looking for a response since many volunteers (unlike myself) are in the continental US, and middle of the night posts can get buried in the morning flood of posts.

While I think WordPress is the better platform for what I need, I now regret not going with Joomla if only for that softwares support system which is much better than this.

This is what prompted me to reply before.

You are not being ignored... and i can only guess why people may not respond. As much as i'd like to speculate at the hundreds of possible reasons for the lack of responses to particular threads i won't... because it would be only that, speculation...

    2) Have done so - again, those developers I have worked with are stating it is a wordpress core isssue.

WordPress is still only PHP and MySQL, there are many coders out there that can be hired for PHP and MySQL related jobs, just because it's WordPress doesn't mean it's somehow special and that you need a particular kind of person for the job, any decent coder will do..

    4) - didn't mean to piss folks off, just trying to see if anyone can help out the multitudes with problems that are stated in those 3 posts. That is the reason for the double please.

I'm not offended, and hopefully you aren't either... :) all i'm trying to offer here is another point of view...

If it helps, here some reasons i'll some times not respond to a simple question. You may find some petty, some stupid, but it's my choice who i respond to after all... ;)

    1. Lack of information about the problem.
    2. Lack of information of what the user has attempted to resolve the problem.
    3. Vague questions (too many to mention)..
    4. Inability to follow (or even read in some cases) information given..

There's a whole load more i could list, but in some cases people really make it hard to help them.... but then i can always walk away and go about doing something else if i choose... I'm not under any obligation.

If someone wants help, then they should present themselves in a manner that welcomes help and shows that they are willing to work at the problem and not just expect results handed to them on a platter.. (for the most part we get nice, smart and friendly people here)..

I'm not aiming all my comments at anyone, i'm simplying sharing the reasons i may have for not responding. Others could have reasons like mine, some many differ, some might just be lazy, who knows... i can only speculate... :)

Sorry, Ignored was the wrong word to use. What I meant is that they go without a helpful response.

Good point on the time zones - That is sort what I was thinking - in terms of things getting buried and not being seen.

Do you meant to tell me that all of them get read but that many just don't get a response for various reasons, whether it be that there wasn't enough information, the request was outside of scope, vague, etc....?

Regarding #2 - you know any good sources - perhaps yourself? There are a number of things that I would like to do outside of the particular issues that I am having for which I would pay someone?

Ill try to do a better job of this myself.

BTW, when adding a comment to a post, does it push it back up in the queue - IE, does it stay burried? IE, is it better to repost a new thread?

No...comments don't impact the posting date. The order of posts is determined by date/time of post.

Your guess is as good as mine, we'd only be speculating...

(Others are available but i'll let you google on that)

Coding is a hobby for me, so no i'm unfortunately not for hire (that would take the fun away for me).

In any case i hope you get your WordPress issues worked out... ;)
