Does 1.0.1. support multi-author??

I am willing to buy a hosting where I have WordPress 1.0.1 pre-installed? As I am completely new to server administration, I would prefer to use this pre-installed version. But I have 2 important requirements:
– Multiple categories (not subcategories).
– Multi author.
Are they supported? Where could I find documentation on features in 1.0.1? Any big functionality not in this version, and critical for a new blogger?
Second, I found an offer in the Hosting post, in this miscellaneous section by http://www.pete99.com (or similar). 12 $ a year (it sounds to me quite inexpensive). Any comment on this hosting offer?
