• Hello, I am a complete newbie to css/java/wordpress, and anything else. But I have been trying to set up forums on my website and I need java to be running to get all of the features out of bbpress, simplepress, etc.

I have run into something that confuses me. It looks like WordPress has java running in the header, but for some reason is does not run with any of the pages onto which I install a forum plug-in.

This means that crucial plug-ins like GD bbpress attachments will not work, or that the formatting of simplepress gets all messed up.

How do you resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

  • I think you mean javascript, not java. They are quite different things. Whether or not javascript runs is a function of the browser, not the server. Browsers have a setting to allow or deny javascript to run. Most users nowadays have javascript enabled. So, javascript is either running on all pages or none at all.

If your javascript plugin is not running, it may be incompatible with other plugins or your theme. To check:
    – deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switch to the default theme TwentyFourteen to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Most plugins have their own support forum where you may be able to get additional help.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Well unfortunately, now whenever I activate the bbpress plug-in, it erases my backside and login pages.

I suppose I should start going to those more specific forums, my goodness this is frustrating, been working on it for over a week!

Just to close out this topic:
I was able to get everything running, it Was a conflict with the Coda theme from Woothemes. I have changed and am using it on a new theme.
