[resolved] Document ordering by menu_order (4 posts)

I'm using the Document Gallery plugin in WordPress 3.5.1 and am curious about the "menu_order" ordering option, which says:

menu_order - This is probably the one you want to use. Order by the integer fields in the Insert / Upload Media Gallery dialog.

Perhaps I'm a noob, but where is the integer field? I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing it or if it's been removed from new versions of WP...

I appreciate any help on this.

    Thanks.

    Hi ViPeRx007,

That's a completely valid question. In version 3.5, WP released a new media manager and one of the things to change was the display that is described in the documentation.

Instead of what is described there, if you look at the uploaded content for a given page/post (Add Media -> Media Library -> Uploaded to this page), you'll see icons for each of the documents on that page. Dragging them do a different location will change their order and this is how the menu_order is now modified.

I'm working on a new minor bug fix release that should be live in a few weeks and I'll included documentation changes at that point.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and hope my explanation helps!

    Hello Dan, great plugin!
Is there a way to modify an existing gallery? If I click on the Add Media button I don't see anything listed under Media Library/ Uploaded to this page section.
    Im using WordPress 3.5.1

    Thanks

    Erik

    Hey Eric,

Can you clarify what you mean by 'modify gallery'? The gallery is dynamically generated each time the page is loaded, so if you change any of the arguments in the shortcode or modify any of the attachments to be included then that should populate to the gallery if it is reloaded.
