I love wordpress and although only using it recently have welcomed it wholeheartedly into my webdesigns. When I see things like this it really puts a downer on things.

    Not very nice

I really don't appreciate being 'slagged off' by contributors to your forum.... everybody starts off as a 'newbie' and with experience comes knowledge to help other people... help being and important word instead of going on some ego trip.......

    makes for interesting reading though......

Calling someone bozo is not fact

It's a reference to an internal forum function, that's all.

setting up seperate forums under wp titles is not nice

    Sorry?

    oh please!

It's a reference to an internal forum function, that's all.

I suggest adding comedienne as another skill

I suppose even Sorry? (with a question mark) is the best I will get from freelance moderators

I'm flattered but I have family members who are far better at stand up than I could ever be. :-)

No. That's me saying "Can you elaborate please? I do not understand what you meant by that phrase". I'm still confused by what you meant.

The term bozo is most definitely referencing an internal function of the forum software we use. It is not tossed around as an insult.

The moderators, like everyone else helping out on the forum are volunteers. No one is getting paid to be a moderator on a freelance basis or any other basis.

If users are breaking the rules of the forum, spamming, disrupting the forum, hassling people etc they might get given bozo status either temporarily or permanently.

The moderators did not choose that title. As Andrea has indicated, it is a feature built into the bbpress forum software.

Many alternative words could probably have been chosen for this feature of bbpress when it was developed, but the developers chose to call it bozo. Compared to some of the alternative words a lot of people might have thought of, bozo is probably quite benign.

The osdir.com link is not a forum and it was not set up by anyone here. It is an unoffical archive of the WordPress.org forum mailing list which is used to discuss forum issues.

I believe snfdesigngroup is referring to the mailing lists.

By the way, anyone can join those.

fonglh, the original post linked to a 3rd party unofficial archive of the mailing list and referred to it as a forum. This is clearly a misunderstanding which I have attempted to clarify in my previous post.

You are correct - anyone can sign up to the mailing list.

Perhaps users with bozo status might prefer Moderators to refer to them as having been given 'code B' status as a euphemism if it is going to hurt their feelings and/or make them appear a bit daft to others. On the other hand, if they don't behave in a way that prompts a moderator to bozo their account in the first place, they wouldn't be having a problem with being identified as a bozo.
