Twenty Twelve
Do widgets, header image, etc. transfer with upgrade? (5 posts)

My blog is still using the twenty-ten theme. I'm not having any problems. But, the 2012 theme looks nice.

My question is whether all my widgets, plug-ins (most popular posts and such), header image, and so on will transfer over if I upgrade the theme? Or do I have to start over with all that stuff?

Thanks for indulging the noob question.

No, mostly theme options are theme-specific, so you'd have to do them again. But it might be worth it - 2012 is really nice and works on all sized devices as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. A follow-up question...

So, will I just need to re-arrange the widgets and plugins? I guess that's not a big deal.

And, will my popular post view counts be retained, for example? That's actually important to me.

Yep on the widgets and plugins - it's usually easier than the first time around too. You can always switch, see what it looks like, and if it's horribly daunting, switch back. Your theme settings are saved.

popular post view counts be retained

I don't know about that - do you mean from jetpack? See if there's anything on their forum or site about that:
