Ok so if you did not read this entry before deleting the new NextGen... and got an almost heart attack when trying to figure out what happend and saw that everything was lost... then maybe the following might be of use:

I made a backup and reinstalled an old version of the NextGen Gallery through ftp and then went into my WordPress admin.
    go to add gallery-images
    go to Import image folder
    brows in wp-content/gallery/

and hopefully you will find all your pictures there like I did.. You do have to ajust your pages... It is still a bit of work, but at least you do not have to upload over 1000 picture like I did..

now take a cup of coffee, stop shaking and try it after taking a deep breath!

I can't access my site via FTP and need to go back a version because 2.0 has totally screwed up the look of my site and the new features don't allow me to just display my images in a set area like the old version did. I just want to show my images with thumbnails and no image name or other text on the screen and to have both vertical and horizontal images displayed without the screen changing.

Here also the same problem, I have to roll back also to 1.9.13, because my dropdown menu don't work anymore, maybe a problem with the jQuery version.
With the roll back de site is working again.

version 2.0 is working surprisingly well for me. but i have some minor bugs i like to report :)

1.if you go to this page you can see the preview image is missing of the album, i checked it is there(even updated it).
2.when you enter the second page and up of the gallery from the album that the image was missing on it doesnt show the images but only a message:no images were found
    3.when i load the nextgen in pages(nextgen gallery-attach to post) it's blank(white only).

if i find other bugs or problem i will report them(if they are causing problems) im also going to test it later on a mobile.
i hope that version 2.0 will be fixed because it works so well...when it works :) cheers~!

Beta testing should have resolved these extreme bugs before release, but as much as I loved this plugin, updating has wreaked havoc on my sites; unnecessarily. I had columns before and could have comments about each mock up image. Now the columns are shot and the ability to display comments are gone and it's not even possible to upload new images any more. All in one "update." Are there any fixes coming relatively soon or patches?

Version 2.0.0 caused blank screen to my site AND dashboard.
I successfully rolled back to 1.9.13 via FTP client according to this instructions: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/
Although I wasn't able to deactivate NextGEN Gallery on backend previously (as the guidance recommends), the overwriting of the files in the nextgen-gallery folder via FTP worked fine.
By all accounts: nothing was affected by the excursion to this harakiri-update except my time and my precaution in future.

I sincerely appreciate the ability and directions to reinstall the down level version of NextGEN Gallery. For some reason the 2.0 version was blocking all of my site links and sending everything back to my landing page. And this on the Twenty Ten Theme.

I am awaiting the fixes for this bug. I have updated my blog to WP 3.6, but hesitate to add NextGEN 2.0 unless I can get some sort of notification that this bug has been fixed.

I really like the new Uploader format, but it didn't really work for some reason. I noticed that the Uploader was uploading the photos, but there were no thumbnails or photos visible in the gallery...only the file names. I saw the files on my FTP site, so I know they got up there.

    Anxiously awaiting updates.

Well at least there is an easy enough fix for the issue. I re-uploaded the previous version and it fixed the issue. Thanks for that at least!

@Gerhard: Most cases we've seen of that have been plugin updates. Can you tell us if you have BBPress, Magic Fields, Manage Member, AMember, or Real Estate interfaces installed?

@affordablewebsitesdenvercom: An update will probably go out next week, and you can try the latest beta available at the link below. There's a list of what's fixed. If you are still having issues, since they're diverse, we'd love to get login credentials to a problem site so we can trouble shoot each issue. If you are up for that, you can submit credentials (WP and FTP) via our bug report form. Finally, if you just want to fix things and wait a few updates for greater stability, you can roll back safely to 1.9.13. Here are all the links:

    http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug

    Thanks.

    Hi.
I lost the NextGen Gallery from a client's website homepage as a result of upgrading. It was replaced by a white box. I also got a blank screen when I went to 'Add Gallery/Images' and 'Gallery Settings'. Problem on MacOS 10.5.8 all browsers and iPhone 4. Don't know about PC. Let me know if you need any info on servers. I'm using Pagelins theme and I have no other plugins installed.

Followed instructions on downloading older version above. Backed-up site. Limited permissions but got it eventually by renaming the NextGen folder on server (i.e the troublesome upgrade). I uploaded the older version by http://ftp... and it worked. It was not possible to add constituent files and folders one-by-one or to replace the existing folder directly. As mentioned, I had to rename the existing one.

    [See site at: http://www.paulkerr.ie ]

I lost a day's work but learned some valuable (and probably obvious) lessons:
    1. Read the info and the forums before upgrading any plugin - probably not best therefore for non-tecchies like me to be the first to upgrade!
    2. Back up everything.
    3. Send a disclaimer to clients about plug-ins.
    4. Don't be too hard on the software makers... it is free after all.
    Regards,
    Pearse.

@Gerhard Lichtenauer - Understood. When you do update again, please let us know how it works for you.

@AirFlame - Thank you for letting us know the conflicting plugins. It may be that the next update will resolve those conflicts. Let us know how things work for you with the next version (v2.1 or v2.2). We're resolving some issues with similar plugins so it's likely we hope, the next update will work better for you.

    Best,
    -Becky

Is it me or does it appear that that nextgen does not work with WordPress Version 3.6??

On the page displaying a gallery I get:

    array(1) { ["display_type"]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(20) "Invalid display type" } }

above the text on the page and no gallery images.

Also - beware of upgrading wordpress to 3.6 before updating nextgen to v2 as it falls off of the dashboard!

@photocrati i hope next updates will be fixed because this plugin is the best i've seen and i am using it all the time. Did not have any problem with updates until now.

I agree with stealthkinetics and AirFlame... not happy with 2.0 at all. rollback necessary. Changing CSS, options, etc throughout multiple client sites not an option. Did not have any problem with updates until now.

I upgraded a site and lost everything all galleries and pics, scary that this plugin wasn't tested enough. It didn't work with 3.5.2 and I'm sure it doesn't work with 3.6. I'm very disappointed with this update and scared some of my clients will upgrade and they will experience what I did. I went back to the previous version and everything works.

    Hi,

I've tried updating to 2.0 but all my current settings that I had for my slideshow stopped working. I did a rollback and it works great. I looked to see what all my settings are and tried updating to 2.0 again and same thing, didn't work. If you can please check out pilottv.net and you will see how I have the images coming out of a TV set. With 2.0 all the images in my library just sit as still pictures on the page.

    Thanks, Terry

@kerchingwebdesign - We have tested extensively on 3.6 and it is working well for us on our own sites. So, it's been puzzling to see that others are not experiencing the same stability that we are. It is a top priority for us to resolve the major & critical issues where possible that everyone is experiencing.

I'm wondering if any of you wouldn't mind temporarily deactivating all plugins (including NextGEN) and then clear your browser cache and reactivate NextGEN Gallery only. Does that help? If not, would you also mind temporarily switching to a WP Default Theme like Twenty Thirteen and see if that helps? I know this is an inconvenience, we're very sorry. But it would help us diagnose if this error may be a plugin/theme incompatibility.

    Thanks!

We are having the array issue to. We will do a rollback to 1.9.3 and then hope for update soon...

I reloaded 2.0 and deactivated all plugins, cleared the browser cache, reset everything on the browser, went back to pilottv.net and it was just all my images sitting there in a grid. Rolled back again and it looks like I need it to.

    Thanks

    Hi,

As requested, I de-activated all plugins, cleared cache and then reactivated nextgen - still no-go. I then switched to the 2013 theme - still no-go I am afraid. Still getting the error code on the page and no gallery.

We have a number of websites with this plug-in on and this is a bit of a problem at the moment, all seem to have given up if WordPress has been updated to 3.6

@kerchingwebdesign - Do you have v2.0 active or our most recent beta? See: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/ . If you haven't given our most recent beta a try yet, it may be worth installing to see if that helps resolve the errors you're seeing. If you feel comfortable installing the beta, please keep us posted on whether it not it works for you.

Otherwise, we are planning on releasing our next update within the next week which should resolve several known major issues.

    Thanks!

@kerchingwebdesign - What are your permalinks set to? You might try resetting to 'post name' if they're set to something else and see if that helps? We've seen that work for a few users.

I'm also curious to know how you updated to v2.0. Was it via FTP or through WP auto update?

    Hi,

    The permalinks are Postname.

The update was completed by the auto update.

Never had a problem with Nextgen Gallery before.

@kerchingwebdesign - thanks for the update. Good info to know. We have an update we're planning on releasing within the next week that will hopefully resolve this error for you. Would you mind getting back to us after it becomes available and let us know if it resolves this issue you're seeing?

    Thanks!

@Photocrati, are the instructinons here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/ really correct for downgrading from 2.0.0 to 1.9.13?

There are many 2.0.0 files that will remain and clutter up the nextgen-gallery directory in the plugin directory if you go the route in the instructions.

Does thie matter to getting it running again?

Or can you suggest a cleaner approach (can I delete the entire nextgen -gallery contents and then upload or delete the folder, upload and expand via ftp)?
