Do not see the Plugins option in the Dashboard (want to install infolinks code) (4 posts)

I want to install the infolinks code on my wordpress site. I have seen how to do this but what my blog seems to be missing is the Plugins option in the Dashboard.

I submitted my blog to infolinks but they rejected my blog because they said that I could not directly edit my html to insert the infolinks code.

What do I need to do from here?

    Thanks

are you on wordpress.com, or wordpress.org?

as in something.wordpress.com or just domain.com?

If you are on wordpress.com hosted site vs. a wordpress.org self hosted and installed site, you can't edit your html, and you can't install plugins.

    It is a .com site.

Thanks for the info I now know why I am unable to edit my html.

I do have a domain that is just parked for the time being...are the steps to make this domain my permanent blog relatively easy to install? Do the goods outweigh the bads?

Depends. WP self hosted has a lot of benefits. Plugins and custom code being part of it.

But you have to learn some things. You have to maintain everything yourself. If anything breaks, its up to you to fix.

It's definitely a cool learning experience, and I don't think all too hard. I had zero web knowledge, and still have no formal training. It's up to what you want, and how much effort you want to put in.

If you have a domain, that's half the equation. You also need hosting. Hosting is storage space, where files are actually kept online. Other than that, WP installation is simple. Heck, most hosts now offer one click installation of WP.
