I'd like my website to have a specific post stay up on the front page permanently as an introduction, just that one post. I'll have the recent entries in the sidebar, which I already figured out how to do.
What I want to know is, since I'm not trying to create a fancy entry, can I just control the loop somehow to make a specific post show on the front page? Or do I need to get the static front page plug in?
I never use the "static homepage" thingy to stick something on the front.
You can use the plugin above or the one I use often:

This one has a little bit different approach: you insert the code in the index.php (a few lines) and I always have a Page (excluded from showing up ever in any listing) and if I want to change/modify the "sticky message" I just edit that Page.
As you can see, you have options :)

Wow. Thanks to both of you. I'm just going to decide which option to use now.
