I was wondering If I set only PayPal Standard option in the Paid Memberships Pro plugin’s payment, do I still need to purchase a SSL certificate and a dedicated IP address.

The second question is: I have downloaded the free version of the plugin and when I tested it, I was direct to the PayPal site; it says you need to create an PayPal account for this purchase. Despite, the PayPal site says there isn’t a need to set up a PayPal account to make a purchase on PayPal standard option, one easily can make the purchase by using their credit card details without setting up a PayPal account.
I would be very happy if some could answer these questions.

    Thanks in advanced.

  • Hi nnkaya,

We recommend having an SSL certificate for all transactions to keep user data secure. Here’s a resource for installing a certificate: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/2011/09/how-to-install-your-ssl-certificate/.

As for your second question, PayPal will ask users to sign up for an account, however there is usually a smaller section below the initial payment section on the PayPal page that will allow users to pay without creating an account. It is somewhat “hidden” and not that easy to find, but it should be there.

    Hope this info helps!

    Thank You
