Do I need to backup my data should I choose to upgrade Linux hosting? (3 posts)

So I'm planning to add in some space into my Linux hosting over the coming weeks, does that mean I gotta have all of my data backed up someplace?

Even if the answer is no, could you brief me on how exactly I can back it up if I ever need to at a future date? Should the backup reside on the server itself, or on the hard disk of my computer?

Thanks a ton in advance folks.

Yes you should make a backup (regularly) of all your files and database.

or search for a backup plugin.

It's best to store your backup on a hard disk as you're gonna work on your server. Or somewhere to the cloud: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-backup-to-dropbox/
