• I have the “Free” version of Yoast SEO and also have the “XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 4.0.7.1”.

    I have always used the XML Site Map Generator for WordPress and have the Yoast XML sitemap option turned off.

    But I am looking to reduce the number of plugins I have on my site (part of a project to simplify my site management activities).

    What are the pros/cons of the Yoast XML Sitemap vs. the XML Site Map Generator plugin?

    Thanks.

    Any thoughts on Yoast XML vs. XML Site Map Generator for WordPress?

    @einstem

    I have been using Google XML Sitemaps https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/ for a long time.

    Lately I said “what the heck”, why should I use two plugins instead of one… and I activated “XML Sitemaps – Yoast WordPress SEO”. After the activation I deactivated at the same time because in Google Webmasters Tools got 403 Forbidden.

    Maybe it is my fault, but for the time i will stick with Google XML Sitemaps.

    You’ll need a different plugin if you want Google to accept all your sitemaps.

    Currently Yoast’s WordPress SEO is creating relative urls for Category and Taxonomy-based Sitemaps — Google Webmastertools throws an error because it expects to see absolute urls.

    Hi Werm42. Which plugin would you recommend? I use Google XML sitemaps but would like to switch to another one after the latest changes.

    Thank you for your help.

    This is the message I’ve been receiving lately. I use both Google Analytics as well as webmaster tools. Would deactivating Google XML sitemaps interfere with communication between GA or WT?

    I’m in need of any advice I can get.
