• 2.0.7 introduced an issue with uploading new images to a gallery. From within the Dashboard > Gallery > Add Gallery / Images feature, it behaved mostly as expected and even stated file successfully uploaded, but then neither the thumbnail nor the file would be in the gallery.

After uploading a file that standard way, if I then went to Dashboard > Gallery > Manage Galleries and clicked on a gallery, the thumbnail image was broken / not displaying, and if I clicked Edit thumb it would throw the following errors in the dialogue box:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/userremoved/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/lib/gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 293

So I just went to http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/ and installed the 2.0.11 Beta, and the problem appears to be resolved!

I’m posting this just in case it can help other users and also in case this information is helpful to Photocrati as well.

Here are some specs of the (very basic) WordPress site I just tested this on:

    – WordPress – always kept fully updated faithfully checking each week. Currently running latest 3.6

    – NextGEN – always kept updated (for more than 3 years using it now) and checked for updates each week. PROBLEM STARTED with 2.0.7 , but I’m now running 2.0.11 beta and problem SEEMS FIXED

    – What version of NextGEN Gallery upgraded from – I haven’t kept track of every version, but I can say this for sure – I check the Dashboard every week for updates and always run them, so the answer is… basically every version that came out in the past 3 years was upgraded to / from.

    – MySQL – 5.5
    – PHP – 5.4
    – The mod_rewrite Apache module activated? Always
    – PHP Safe Mode OFF? Always

    – What theme are you running? A child theme of Twenty Eleven , no other custom themes installed. Only Twenty Ten / Twenty Eleven / Twenty Twelve / Twenty Thirteen (WordPress defaults) are on this installation. Switching to any one of those themes did not help.

    – Which plugins do you have installed and activated?
    Akismet 2.5.9
All In One SEO Pack 2.0.2
    Blogger Importer 0.5
    Contact Form 7 3.5.1
Disabling all 4 plugins except NetGen did not help.

    – Does this error still occur if you switch your theme to the WP default, and deactivate all plugins except NextGEN Gallery?

YES – the problem persisted with all other plugins disabled and using current default WP themes, while still running NextGen 2.0.7

BUT, as soon as I upgraded to 2.0.11 BETA as desrcibed at http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta/ the problem seems resolved.

Have not had much time yet to do a lot experimenting, but as of this moment – with 2.0.11 beta – galleries and images display correctly, new images can be added, new galleries can be added.

Looks like Photocrati is on the right track with 2.0.11 beta, thanks for publishing it.

I hope that this helps others and that users with bigger problems get theirs resolved too.

  • Congrats, glad to read, I’ll be hopefully playing around with 2.0.11 this weekend, hoping to replicate my site in a different directory to see how the version behaves.
