Displaying sub categorys and their posts

    I’ve got two categories: blog and gift. Within gift I have several sub categories and associated posts. On a page I would like to display the sub category headings with their associated posts (including the post heading and thumbnail image). When they are clicked they’ll open a new pop up window with the full post details.

    I’m a complete WordPress/php novice so am looking for complete guidance on this one.

    Any ideas?
