Displaying multiple categories at once?

I wanted to display multiple blog categories at once on a single page. I am using a three column layout, and want a category to appear in each column. Originally, I had intended to <?php include each one, but that appears not to work as it reloads the entire interface in each column and gets caught in an infinite loop.
Is there any way to display more than one category on a single page at a time?
