Displaying custom post type listing on custom page in 2010 child theme

Hi there
I’m working on a portfolio site, and I thought I’d make use of a custom post type for portfolio entries, separate from the normal blog posts.
I’ve been trying to find a way of doing this for days, but no joy. I’ve set up the custom post type (“resources”), and can add and view them via the dashboard, using a custom ‘single-resource.php’ template . But I don’t seem to be able to find the way to display a list of the custom posts on a page.
Any help appreciated!
