I understand that you can show up the comment ID with a tag, but what I want to do is to show the number of the comment on a certain post. So for example, even if a comment id was #245 but was the first comment on a particular post, could I get it to show that?
Another example: http://txfx.net/2005/07/24/shoot-to-kill/#comments
Each comment has "#1 Comment" underneath it. How do I get it to show like that?

Oh. Well, you know - I never supposed it was very good manners just to email someone with a question and nothing else (even if you do suck up to them in it). I'll just wait a bit longer to see if anyone knows around the forum before doing that...
I think the site you linked to is simply using numbered comments. Try a search here for "numbered comments"...
