Howdy,

In the old version there use to be a widget to display unlocked badges in the sidebar for users. In the new version I do not see this option. Any recommendations?

Yes, the widget you refer to isn’t in the 3.x versions. It may come back in future.

Is there a short code I can use to display the unlocked badges like the widget use to do?

No, there’s no shortcode for this.
