[resolved] Display thumbnail for specific post(s) (3 posts)

I am working with a custom post type ('istuff') and custom taxonomy ('generation').

I want to display a page which lists all the istuff, grouped by generation (i.e. iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4g, iPad 2 etc in one group - iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3g, iPad etc in second group and so on). Each generation is preceded by a thumbnail image (perhaps taken from the first istuff in generation?) and a description (pulled from the description in custom taxonomy admin menu), however each istuff does not have a thumbnail. To make things even more difficult (sorry), I want the thumbnail to be a custom size ('Generation Title').

I have tried using the plugin Category Images II by Simon Wheatley to get the custom taxonomy to have a thumbnail attached to it, however this does not allow me to display this in a custom taxonomy archive page, nor does it allow me to define the custom thumbnail size.

I know there is a plugin to create a "Category of Category" page, although I'm not sure that is the best method of attack.

Any ideas? Am I approaching this completely the wrong way?

Oh, and I would prefer to put any code directly in the theme files over using a plugin. However, if someone has put a lot of time into developing a plugin that solves this issue and it wouldn't make since for me to duplicate it within the theme files I would understand.

Never mind, I decided to use custom meta fields for istuff and converted generation to a custom post type.
