Display Specific Category on a page

thanks for any help in advance 🙂

what id like to do is have a nav option for “blog” then a drop down for tech news and another drop down for tech reviews

when clicked on tech news , brings you to a page only showing the post’s that are posted in the tech news category and same for tech reviews.

my first thought would be to clone the page.php for each page (tn_page.php , tr_page.php) and edit the code so it pulls in the specific category or category ID and displays only those post. render a page from that template.

anyways , how do i do this ? what is the code i need and where do i put that code specifically.

well, the easiest way would be if your theme uses custom menus. Then you just make menu items for those categories and it would lead to an archive of each category.

Otherwise your technique of pages would work. by copying page.php and applying the proper header for a page template

and the proper query to call posts from teh category
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/query_posts#Category_Parameters

then you just make the page using the wordpress page editor, and assign it the appropriate template

wow , that makes alot more sense – i was def. over thinking that! thank you for knocking that on the side or my head 🙂 – getting a coffee now hahah

lol! sure thing. Page templates are handy for certain things…so keep that knowledge in your back pocket! But I’m all about finding the simplest solution whenever possible 🙂
