Display of thumbnails

    When I click on a thumbnail (or any reduced size image) to get the full size image, it is is displayed at the left side of a white background.
    However, if I enter the site via a link in a mail message, the image is displayed centrally on a black screen.
    Can this behavior be explained and controlled?
