    Hi
I am new to WordPress and have been working on a site ( http://www.goldcoastsurf.com.au/ ) using a great theme( http://www.highlandsbydesign.com/theme/silver-lexus-theme/ ) that I have modified a bit.
I used the instructions from this post ( http://wordpress.org/support/topic/21382?replies=9 ) to remove comments but Im almost certain this is not the problem
The problem I'm having is that it doesnt display properly in IE5, IE5.5 and IE6 . See screenshots here
    http://browsershots.org/http://www.goldcoastsurf.com.au/
    and here http://browsershots.org/http://goldcoastsurf.com.au/2007/06/01/dennis-pang-the-evergreen-wave-warrior-of-the-north-shore/
If you check the screenshots you'll notice that the right sidebar has dropped but also the icons in the Archive an categories lists/ navigation in the left siebar have appearred twice an or the link is below where vit should be
Now I know there are 100's of posts in the forum on this subject and Ive read most of them but I still cant seem to find the problem.
Most of the posts have the same answer do a search for "sidebar dropped"
And I realise it has something to do with the widths but I have change everything I can think of and its still no good
Is there anyone out there who could take a look at it for me an let me know what to look for??
I know the fix is probably right under my nose. but Im at my wits end an just about ready to abandon it completely Any help greatly appreciate
    Dan

Well after searching through the forum and other sites on the net I finally got an answer from Guido who is a dead set legend.
his email below pretty much explains it all IE5 to IE6 basically wont work with straight css ,......you need to use a table to stop things moving around.
I hope this helps the countles others who are looking for an answer. I am now using Guido's themes which are easy to mod
I have checked stats on my other sites and on some of them up to 50% of users are still on IE6.
So all those themes that use css purely and no tables are pretty much useless to me. Its a pity because the silver lexus theme has the best layout Ive seen for 3 colums http://www.highlandsbydesign.com/theme/silver-lexus-theme/
I spent days trying to get this theme to work in IE6 and had some mixed success .until I came to the realisation maybe it will never work in IE5 to IE6.
If somebody does find an answer pleas post here. so everyone can see the answer.

    Dan,

I think the problem is with a CSS style rule that IE 5 or 6
can´t handle. Probably something with the relative or
absolute positioning of the sidebar divisions.

Looks like people still haven´t found a way to make
sites that are purely designed with CSS (and no tables for
the layout) compatible with all the browsers.

I still use only one HTML table in my layouts that prevents
things like dropping sidebars, overlapping content, etc ...
    from happening.

You could try out one of my SEO themes and modify it with
your header image, just to see if it works or not.
