start with sorting out markup errors. In fact the validator cannot even check your website as it is!!

I’d love to start there but the validator doesn’t like that I’ve got the DOCTYPE declaration in my header.php file — which I think is mandatory for my theme — so I don’t know how to make heads or tails of the validator output.

}
This is located in http://brackishwater.net/wpr/wp-content/themes/veryplaintxt/style.css and you can access this from your dasboard by clicking on appearance > editor > style.css
