Is there a way to dismiss the upgrade banner from the dashboard?

Assuming you don't care about the security issues 'dismissal' look at:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-wordpress-core-update/

    or

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/core-control/ <==this plugin has some other interesting things like forcing update checks as well.

Hmm. I might try that. I was hoping for a per-version option.

    Thanks!

Best thing to do is UPGRADE then you won't see the message!

    Yeahbut,

Until the compatible plugins are available for each version, upgrading causes far more problems than it solves. I also have several of my own hacks in places like wp-load.php that need to be migrated by hand. In the meantime, the reality is that I've learned not to jump onto new versions, so the upgrade banners are a nuisance.

I'm sure anyone with an uncostomized install benefits greatly from one-click upgrades.
