I am trying to modify my quicktags.js file. This is the one from Alex King. I have done so in the past and have successfully added a button called “tag” that wraps selected text in a [tag] and [/tag] for Technorati.

But now I’m trying to add another button and nothing I do to quicktags.js is having any effect. I have even removed all the buttons from quicktags.js, uploaded it to my blog, and when I write a new message all the old buttons are still there. I have logged out and returned later and the old buttons are still there when I try to write a new message.

I am using WordPress 1.5.2. The quicktags.js file is in the wp-admin folder. I am using the Arzel XT2 theme.

  • Hmmm. I don’t know if the structure changed between WP 1.5.2 and WP 2.0.x, but in my install quicktags.js is in /wp-includes/js/quicktags.js

Are you sure you have it in the right directory? If not, that may explain why it’s being ignored.

    I FOUND IT. Geez.

Everything I was doing was exactly correct. My problem turned out to be Firefox’s cache – it kept remembering what I “had” and not what I had “just done”. Once I cleared out Firefox’s cache all my work appeared as designed.

Now all my pretty, new quicktag buttons are there in all their glory, and I have scolded Firefox firmly.

    Thanks,
