Disappearing anchors

I keep adding anchors (jump text) but when I switch from visual to text they all disappear. This was a known problem two years ago (see post here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/anchor-points-keep-disappearing), where people suggested that changing <a name.. to <a id… fixed the issue. However, I was using <a id… and they still disappear.

Has anyone solved this issue yet? I can’t go through and re-add all anchors every time I change content on a page.
