It feels like the CSS isn't loading in Firefox (Mac OSX or Windows...) but it seems to like Safari and IE 6 well enough...

Thinking that it might have been a plugin or other issue, I went through the plugins and disabled them, tried other themes, and finally upgraded to 2.1

Then I went back through and wiped out my old themes, replaced them with just the default 2.1 theme....

    Nada.

    The default CSS sheet loads...

I thought that it might be something bizarre in an entry I made in the past couple days, but even on archival entries from a year ago, I'm seeing the lack of styling...

There are no apache error log entries, and the access file shows the css file being sent...

I've been working on testing things on an old entry... tried CSS verifying it...

Bunch of warnings, but checks out fine...

Okay, it's sounding and looking like a mime type issue...

Of course now I'm away from a system that I can use to ssh to my web server...

w3c tells me that the css on its own is presented as text/html

"You may come across a web page using CSS with poor layout with Netscape 7.x or any Gecko-based browser such as Mozilla, while MSIE displays it nicely. One of the common reasons for this is an improper configuration of the web server hosting the CSS file." -- http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Incorrect_MIME_Type_for_CSS_Files
