• Can you help please? Can you tell me how to disable a link to page in the toolbar of a Blackbird Theme. I have a drop down menu under the parent page on the toolbar, and I want these to link to the respective pages, but I don’t want the parent page on the toolbar at the top to be linked to anything when you click on it, this is just a leader to the child pages underneath on the drop down menu. Maybe there is a Plugin you can suggest? Can you help me asap pls as I need to launch website today. Thanks so much, Tony

  • On your custom menu make the top item link to ‘#’.

This will make the top link not clickable

Dear Ic235 thanks for reply. I’m very new to this Website design thing, so do you think you would kindly walk me through this please. I don’t know how to make the top item link to # Sorry to be so thick, thanks Tony

Everyone has to start somewhere, I was in your position at one stage too

    Go to Appearance > Menus

click on Links on the left hand side and create a link with the text you want and enter # as the url

Then add this to your menu and drag the pages you want to be subitems of this menu underneath

That’s fantastic, I managed to do it, I’ve been messing about with Plugins like Page Lists Plus & JQuery etc on the suggestion of another contributor, but your suggestion was so ‘fall off a log’ easy. Thanks you again and nice weekend…

PS I don’t want to be presumptuous but I have one other issue, Mr Guru, on the home page, on the Theme I am using InkTheme’s Blackbird, there are three boxes at bottom of the screen, and I earlier linked them to the URL’s of the pages on the menu bar at the top, by adding /services, and /gallery. But these are the pages that I was referring to above, that I don’t want to open. I’ve tried to add another line to the address i.e. /services/trucking, so the truck page would be linked to this click, but a page opens ‘this is rather embarrassing, you didn’t want to go here’ Can you guess what I am doing wrong an suggest a fix pls??? Thanks a lot in advance.
