Disabling some of the buttons on BP-TinyMCE (3 posts)

    Another great plugin. Thankyou

    I would like to disable some of the buttons (or simply have them disappear) as certain items (such as text colour) will not have any effect on my site as the tags will be filtered out. This will mean that I also avoid any unnecessary support questions from my users

    It's possible to do this with a filter or two. If the buttons you want to remove are created by a plugin, you can use this technique: https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-docs/blob/master/includes/templatetags-edit.php#L171

    If the buttons are part of TinyMCE itself, you can use this technique that I use to remove the wp_more button https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-docs/blob/master/includes/templatetags-edit.php#L149 This technique is pretty hackish, but I don't know a better way to do it.

    See my reply here how I changed the WYSIWYG buttons:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-bp-tinymce-cant-input-text-in-activity-reply?replies=4#post-2477021

    If you want to avoid using the full Tiny MCE toolbar, you may want to switch to the Teeny WYSIWYG by implementing the following filter hook:

    add_filter( 'bp_tinymce_is_teeny', 'my_bp_tinymce_is_teeny' );
        function my_bp_tinymce_is_teeny($is_teeny) {
            return true;
        }

    You may need to put this into the bp-custom.php in your plugins folder as in my case having it in my theme functions.php didn't work.
