[resolved] Disabling appended info in sideposts (8 posts)

    I was wondering whether it's possible to prevent other plugins such as related posts adding their output to the sideposts. Because the sideposts are so small, having related posts, etc. shown there messes up the style.

    Or would this be something to contact the other plugin authors about?

    Thanks for an excellent plugin!

    Most themes/sites don't have "sideposts". In fact I'm not even sure what a "sidepost" is. Assuming it's a theme specific feature, I doubt that plugin authors will be able to accommodate it. Far better to fix the theme.

    Hi esmi,

    I accidentally posted in the wrong forum. I wanted to have the plugin title in the topic name, too.

    I'm talking about this plugin

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sideposts/

    It places regular posts in a widget in the sidebar.

    Thanks.

    What output have you selected on the widget? I think this would be when you select to show the full post. Perhaps showing only the post excerpt will work?

    Hi Txanny,

    Thanks for stopping by.

    Yes, I am showing full post. I'd like to keep it that way, if possible. The sidebar on my page is for short posts that are shown in full.

    Do you think there's a way to do that without having related posts, etc. appended?

    If not, I'll still be using the plugin. It's very good. But it would be a nice thing to be able to do.

    Cheers.

    You can try this:

    Open the file 'posts.php' in the plugin 'templates' folder and save it with a new name like 'content.php'.

    In the new file, locate this line (line 46) :

    the_content('<p>' . __('Read more &raquo;', $i18n) . '</p>');

    and replace it with:

    echo wpautop($post->post_content);

    Go to the widget admin, and select 'Show -> Content'.

    This will show just the post content without extra data or attachments. (The bad thing: It will not show pictures as them are attachments).

    Hope this helps.
