  • Hey, I have a custom post type called “directory”. And I want to hide all editing options (html editing tags, visual editor, and upload media button)… reason for this is that I won’t be using the description to actually add a description… I will just be adding a bunch of keywords in there so that the directory listings can be searched using the wordpress search bar. I want to hide it because I don’t want to confuse other people who will be working on the site. I just want the description field to be a standard textbox or texarea. But for the custom post type called “directory” only.

  • I was looking for something similar and, in the end, opted for turning off the editor in the CPT declaration and creating a custom metabox with a textarea field for the description. Then when the post is saved, my code just puts the contents of the textarea in the content for the post.

I’m sleepy and this seemed like the path of least resistance. 🙂

    Does that make sense?
