'Disable' The Loop for main page; keep for Archives, etc. (7 posts)

I am interested in disabling the overhead of the 'default' Loop for my home page, in favor of using query_posts() to generate specialized output.

Currently, I am using the administrator setting of 1 post per page to achieve part of this special output. This would affect Archives as well, which may be okay, but I'm curious about the option presented here.

    Thanks.

Use this plugin to set different number of posts shown on different views:

You might like to have a static home page, which you can then populate 'manually' with other data - see http://jpmcc.blogdns.org/index.php/software/how-to-create-a-static-home-page/

jpmcc: Thanks, will check it out.

I'm trying to do the same as you sethrasmussen. That could be what I'm looking for in my new layout. moshu idea was great. I've also asked the plugin author for a WP 2.0 version. Lets wait...
