Disable Sell Media search

The option to disable media search doesn’t seem to work.

1. The options to “Disable Media Search” are “Yes” and “No”. Intuitively, choosing “Yes” would disable media search, however the description says, “Set this to “no” if you do not want to use the built in Sell Media search.”

2. Despite which option I choose, yes or no, the media search still shows up and mangling everything in the header of my site.

Is this an error, and if so, is there a workaround (i.e. commenting out something in the helpers.php page) to disable the media search functionality?
