Disable "required" in one of the comment form fields

    Hi, i’ve been digging around and haven’t been able to figure out how to disable only one of the “required” for the fields in the comment forms. Specifically, i want only the name and text area to be required to leave a comment, not the email. Any ideas??

    Also, anybody know, on the comment forms again, how to make the input fields reset when a message is sent? After i post a comment, my info (email and name) stays typed in the input fields…

    I am using WordPress 3.1 with the Genesis framework 1.5.

    You can disable the field requirements in Settings > Discussion with the “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” option. Name and e-mail are remembered per browser via a cookie for user convenience. You can remove this individually by deleting cookies associated with your site, and there may be a plugin to disable the functionality, but its generally considered a small helper for site users.

    Thank you for your response Douglas. I am aware of the “Comment author must fill out name and email” option, but it gives the choice between either having both name and email required, or both not required. What i want is to have the name required but not the email.

    Any ideas?
