• I previously used WP Super Cache which was recommended by the head server administrator of Auttomatic (WordPress.com). Giving W3 Total Cache a go now since it’s the other big contender.

I have it installed on a site but can’t tell if it’s enabled or still in “preview” mode?

    Here is a screenshot: http://cl.ly/Kv38

It has a yellow back as you can see saying: Preview mode is active: Changed settings will not take effect until preview mode is or . any changed settings (without deploying), or make additional changes.

When I click Deploy, it says “Preview settings successfully deployed.” but still shows the other box still that preview mode is active. So I’m confused are all the settings deployed and live or is it still in some sort of preview mode and if so how do I turn off the preview mode?

To note there is a file called, “w3-total-cache-config-preview.php” in wp-uploads with permissions 644. I changed to 777 just to see if it was that (even though I wouldn’t leave it at that since security vulneribility but still no luck. If I delete the file and click deploy it is recreated but still seeing the yellow box. And I’ve tried emptying all cache in the plugin. It says the plugin is “enabled” in green.

The compatibility test looks all good with the exception it says:
mod_deflate: Not detected (however mod_deflate is installed and enabled on the server and checked a third party site that it is gzipped properly. Also it says URL rewrite: Enabled but mod_rewrite: Not detected. And mod_rewrite is enabled and working as the site uses search engine friendly names without a problem.

    Any ideas?

Wait think I figured it out. While one would assume the highlighted “disabled” button or “deploy” button would refer to the enabling or deploying the plugin, I’ve discovered its referring to disabling or deploying preview mode. Very confusing interface for that section. The button should be called “disable preview” and “enable preview” etc.

I am fairly new to WordPress, but have never had this problem. When I install a new Theme via .zip file or directly from search themes, once I activate the theme I want it continues to say you are PREVIEWING (theme) when I go to customize and make changes. The host server is domain.com, which I then installed WordPress. Any ideas how to get the Preview mode to stop?

    Thanks!
