Meteor Slides
[resolved] Disable on tiny screens (3 posts)

I'd like to know how to disable Meteor Slides when the viewport is narrower than 320px. I'm building a responsive theme and don't think smart phone users can afford the bandwidth overhead.

    Thanks for a great plugin.

Hi, you can use display none to hide the slideshow so it isn't loaded on the screen, but it will still load behind the scenes.

There is a new function, wp_is_mobile, that you could use to load the slideshow conditionally in your theme, but that will cast a pretty wide net beyond just the smallest mobiles. I'd recommend keeping the slideshow files small enough to run anywhere, if you have no more than 5 or 6 slides, and the file size of the slide images is kept in check it should work fine in most situations.

    Thank you Josh.

I'll have a go at modifying wp_is_mobile to see if I can narrow its reach.
