Just a suggestion: Instead of separating directories into . . .
    wp-admin/
    wp-content/
    wp-images/
    wp-includes/
Why not separate things neatly into . . .
    wp/admin/
    wp/content/
    wp/images/
    wp/includes/
. . . in one neat wp directory?

Why not put everyting just all in one folder? ...don't even have folders...now that would be organization!! haha....you could debate the folder structure for hours! What's wrong with the way it is now? Like Sushubh said, you can put everything into a folder of you own if you don't like it. Ah...the flexibility of WP! :-)

I'm very happy with just 4 directories! I just deleted the MT files within the cgi-bin (end of a period) and couldn't remember to have uploaded so many directories!
