Digg Digg Twitter button shortcomings
-
I just replaced ShareBar with Digg Digg and immediately noticed a few major problems and some disappointments.
- Digg Digg is pulling from the post title, not <title>. This is bad because I write my <title> tag for SEO, so it’s also the better title for sharing away from my website. The official tweet button will, by default, tag <title>, but Digg Digg is set to take the post title instead.
- Double-quotation marks break the tweet text. Since Digg Digg is pulling from the post title instead of <title>, it’s also finding my double quotation marks in the post title, and it stops grabbing the title. So ONCE020: “Dreamy” [url] turns into ONCE020: [url]
- The official Twitter button offers an automatic hashtag and can recommend another Twitterer besides the “via.” Digg Digg’s Tweet button doesn’t offer this.
