• I purchased a theme from Envato called Redline and now want to use it. I read their installation instructions, which said to go to WordPress –> Appearance –> Themes and click the Add New option. I don’t HAVE that option. I did a help search and got instructions to drag the Redline folder and all contents into the WordPress –> wp-content –> themes folder. I tried that too. I even restarted Safari. The theme did not show up and I still have no add button. Please help.

  • Sounds as though your user role is not Administrator.

    Do you have the “Appearance” menu item in the menu list on the left when you log in? If not, then you most definitely are not set up as an Administrator, which you need to be in order to add themes/plugins, etc.

    I don’t HAVE that option.

    if you don’t have that option, your site might be with WordPress.com

    if you have a selfhosted site based on WordPress.org, review http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes and please continue to contact Envato directly for support.

    commercial themes might be different to install.

    without direct free access to the commercial theme, this forum cannot really help;

    Aargh! You are right — the blog I just created is on wordpress.com. I didn’t even realize both existed. OK, now what? I already purchased the new theme. I’m a novice at this (I was an expert at GoLive so having to start all over is very frustrating). I appreciate help on what I need to do now so I can use my new theme with my blog.
