I have changed my main index page from narrowcolumn to widecolumn and removed the sidebar to fit images, but now I get unwanted grey space around the right side of all the posts. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Check your header.php for the conditionals... or better choose a decent theme: http://themes.wordpress.net
