   I hope that makes my problem clear.

   I'm working in limited space and only want a couple of items visible at once in the main display.

   But I want people to be able to see more items when they hit tags or archives, categories, etc.

   I wouldn't mind those searches or sorts showing just titles or titles and a few lines.

   I can't seem to find but one "Number of Items" control and it works globally.

   I am using the "Slight 1.2" theme, by the way.

   Might be easiest to use a plugin such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-post-limits/
