• I am using the Atahualpa theme. Here is my query. Basically, I am integrating two separate sites into one, but would like to (if possible) preserve the two unique looks. The text colors can stay the same throughout, but my sidebar image in the body and my header image need to be different in the two sections of the new integrated site.

Is this possible? If so, how do I accomplish it?

I asked this on the Atahualpa forum and received the following answer.

You have multiple ways you could do this.
    1) setup one of the sites as you like it then export the atahualpa settings and import them into the second site.

    2) copy everything to one site and then add a lot of CSS inserts to reference the pages from site two with what new graphics you want or use a plugin like widget logic to control what widgets display on which pages – on on page 1, 2 and 3 from site A display widget L, M and N but on pages 5, 6, and 7 from site B display widgets W, X, Y, and Z

    3) you could look into the wordpress multisite option

It depends on what you seek to accomplish, the amount of time/work you want to put into it and only you can make that decision

They aren’t much for hand holding over there though, and Google isn’t helping me find the answers I need. Option two using CSS inserts seems to be the most likely one of what I want to do, but I’m not sure how to make the call for the specific pages, and where I would place this info within the theme options.

Any suggestions/helpful hints/links? Thanks in advance.

  • The sidebar can be done with the coolest plugin ever, Dynamic Widgets. It lets you display different sidebar widgets depending on language/ browser/ page. post, etc. It what I use here: 11m2.de I have different sidebars depending on language, and in the blog a whole different set, and even a fun message on the blog for anyone with IE.

You would need to check if there is a corresponding dynamic header widget out there… there usually is.

Its not sidebars I need done. Its the actual page background graphics that I would like t make different. I actually have sidebars turned off on my pages. They are only on on the blog post pages.

I’ll look for on for the header image though.

The Best way is one tiny code modification. See:

WordPress Atahualpa Theme – Different Header Images for MultiSite WP

I hope that gets added to the Atahualpa theme.
