Different Customizations for Posts and Homepage

I love the theme! Is there a way to make the widgets and things that appear on posts different from what’s on the homepage and pages?

Right now, I have two text widgets plus three other widgets in the side bar, and I have a background image at the top of the page.

I would like to keep the home page (and about pages, etc. are fine) like this, but I would like for the blog posts to have no background image and to not have the two text widgets.

I’m new to wordpress, so I don’t even know if this is possible.

I am going to download the custom css manager plugin, I don’t know if this would help.
