   Following on from this thread (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/detach-amp-re-attach-media-attachment-images-from-posts?replies=21) is it really still not possible to unattach images from posts without deleting them completely?!

   How was this not implemented at the same time they allowed attaching images? It makes it really easy to completely mess up WP installations...
