Ive just started using wordpress for my website, i changed the default password sometime ago and ive forgotten it and now i cant reset it get the "The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function..."

ive tried the alternatives in the codec but i just cant get them to work. im at my wits end here and need help! please!

Only thing you can do is follow these docs Resetting Your Password « WordPress Codex or try and convince your web host to fix the email issue or reset the password for you.
