• I am brand new to WP. I designed my site in Photoshop as a .PSD and now want to convert this to a WP site. What are the next steps?

    1. Should I just slice it up and import into Dreamweaver to make additional changes?
    2. Are there any guidelines for doing this?

    Thanks!!!

  • oh man there is a lot to do just from a psd, also depends on complexity of design, you will have to learn to love divs and know everything about them.

A suggestion I would do is google around for free wordpress templates that you feel kind of resembles what you want to do with your layout. basically look for layouts that might be a skeleton to your future layout. and then you can install that theme and build, and customize it to your needs.

Is there an easy way to do this without knowing code if you import the slices from Photoshop and into Dreamweaver?

No, WordPress is not static html and themes cannot be designed from scratch using visual design web tools. It’s php and it has its own functions. To develop your own theme, you’ll need to know code. See: http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development
