  • I really liked the presentation of this plugin compared to another plugin Github Shortcode however few things threw me off that lead to uninstall it:

    1. It requires two PHP modules that needs to be installed separately. For people not familier with PHP, it’s non-trivial tasks. Plus I wonder if it would be possible in some WordPress hosting scenario at all. If these modules are not installed then caching is disabled which is really not a good idea.
    2. It uses different shortcode than Github Shortcode plugin. It would have been great if it could support same shortcode so it would be possible to move to this plugin without changing all posts.
    3. The plugin should offer an option to do all rendering from browser if possible so that load on server is minimal.
    4. It’s nice for author to disclose affiliate links but it would be even better if disclosure included which sites.

Thanks for the feedback, I will at least attempt to address point 4.

I’ll also address #1 to some extent by removing the requirement for cURL in the next release. The other modules are entirely optional, the caching in particular is only really significant for medium-high-traffic sites.

As for point #2 I don’t really want to conflict with other plugins. For your specific case, you can probably try using the search and replace WordPress plugin to update the shortcodes.
