Deleting website. (5 posts)

This question isn't for me, it is for a friend.

He recently purchased a new server and I have redesigned an entirely new website for him. Only problem is that they both run under the same domain name "tacticalzen.com".

I have tried removing the sites from WordPress so they can be replaced by the new website pages but they don't seem to be working. The old pages just appear saying that the page cannot be found.

I have searched the support items for WordPress as well as many other websites, and they all seem to point to a "Delete Site" button, or "Store" menu which my friends WordPress does not contain.

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

    Cheers,

Is this site actually hosted at WordPress.com, as opposed to self-hosted sites this forum supports?

If not, you need to discuss with the host of the old site and also discuss with DNS registar.

Well I asked this same question at WordPress.com and received this reply:

"Well, tacticalzen.com is not a WordPress.COM site. It is apparently a WordPress.ORG site, so I suggest you take the question over there. We can't help with that here."

I am very certain it is a WordPress.ORG site also but am still stuck with the original question.

The way it worked was the owner purchased a domain address through WordPress but then wanted to change to a different web server hosting service. He purchased the new server but instead of transferring his old site, I decided to redesign the whole website. At the moment the new server is live and has all the files but isn't displaying the content for some reason. I believe the old site is blocking its path but I can't seem to find a way to delete the old website?

You need to ask again at .com about that domain registration...and discuss with new host also - they may be able to start the DNS namerserver/setup transfer - but it will take 24-72 hours normally (once they begin the process) for all DNS servers to resolve yoursite.com to an ip address....if not clear on this contact new host and discuss, ask them to explain...it's really not a wp.org or .com issue but a DNS/Host issue...
