[resolved] deleting the "wordpress" in the URL? (6 posts)

    Hi,

I just started with wordpress so I am absolutely new here. I just installed wordpress and it's working, but I would like to change the URL in order to remove the word "/wordpress" from it.
    Right now I have :http://www.MyDomain.org/Festival/wordpress/wp-admin/

But I would like to have http://www.MyDomain.org/Festival/Berlinda/wp-admin/

It occurred to me that I could just rename the folder in my server, so I changed the name of the folder from wordpress to Berlinda, with the result that I no longer could access my wordpress anymore.

After I deleted and re-installed the whole thing (now it's working again), I would like to know if there's a better way to change the URL, in order to make it look more professional (without the /wordpress ?)

Thank you very much in advance!

    ines

Did you install it in a directory named "WordPress"? Try installing in a differently named directory (ie: Berlinda).

If you don't want to reinstall again, try reading this codex article about moving your WP installation:

Thank you for the help! Yes I tried installing it in a different directory, but then I had to reinstall WP and lost everything I had made there. That's why I would like to go for a better option. I will read the article you sent me.

    Again, thank you very much!
