From a new user:
A simple question I can't find the answer for.
I would like to remove old posts from the blog's homepage without deleting them from the monthly archives. This must be easy, but how? When I actually delete the post in the Manage section, they disappear from the monthly archive.

As you noticed, delete means... delete.
If you just want to get them off the home page, how about going to Options -> Reading and adjusting the value of "Show at most:" instead?
